Rift Valley Farms offers Medjoul dates in two pack sizes: 450g and 1kg. The 450g pack contains medium-sized dates, labelled as "premium" based on their size. The 1kg pack includes larger dates, but aside from the size difference, both packs offer the same high-quality, organically grown fruit.
Rift Valley Farms cultivates organically grown Medjoul date palms, which take up to eight years to mature. Each tree yields between 60-70 kg of fruit per season. To optimise growth, date palms are planted eight metres apart, preventing cross-shading. The farm employs sustainable practices, including hand-weeding, natural fertilisation, and controlled irrigation, ensuring high-quality fruit while maintaining tree health.
In spring, fruit thinning is carried out to achieve the desired size. As harvest approaches, netting bags protect the dates from weather, birds, and insects. A naturally occurring heatwave in the Jordan Valley further enhances their sweetness just before they are hand-picked, washed, sorted, graded, and packaged in September.
Committed to sustainability, Rift Valley Farms prioritises soil preservation and waste recycling, using organic compost as fertiliser. By avoiding harmful chemicals, organic farming protects both human health and the environment while maintaining soil integrity.
As a majority family-owned business with deep Palestinian roots, Rift Valley Farms upholds environmental responsibility and social impact. The company employs advanced agricultural practices to conserve water and soil. It is also distinguished by a predominantly female management team and workforce, promoting gender equality through flexible working hours and leadership opportunities. Additionally, the farm fosters economic growth by offering fair employment, generous benefits, and supporting small farmers through ethical purchasing practices.
