1 Dozen Extra Large Pastured Eggs (700g)
Mulloon Creek eggs are locally and organically produced in Mulloon Creek, NSW. Their happy chooks are free to wander and forage on certified organic/ biodynamic (ACO) pastures 24/7 and are guarded by their fantastic Maremma dogs. Their farm is also Human Choice accredited and as of 2020 has received the Land to Market Ecological Outcome Verification to show that the landscape is Regenerative.
Mulloon Creek eggs are truly unlike any other eggs. They are are more nutritious and free from any antibiotics, pesticides, herbicide, chemical fertilisers etc. Being Humane Choice means that they are free to roam and behave naturally without being beak trimmed, declawed or having their wings clipped. The chooks are moved from field to field in open bottomed mobile chook houses and are totally 24/7 free range on a ratio of just 250 birds per hectare (free range is anything under 10,000 per hectare). Choice magazine rated Mulloon Creek a top choice due to this as well as CSIRO and The Measuring Institute testing showing they have 4 times the omega 3 of normal eggs and 2.5 times the ratio of omega 3 to 6, higher in beta-carotene and zinc. The money raised from their eggs supports The Mulloon Institute, a registered charity – recognised by the UN for research, education, training and projects focused on regenerative agriculture, landscape rehydration, biodiversity and soil health. They are helping Aussie and international farmers better prepare for drought and even have a project aimed at helping save The Great Barrier Reef from agricultural runoff. Mulloon Creek have been featured on ABC’s Australian Story three times as part of their coverage on work they have done with Peter Andrews regards Natural Sequence Farming.
Mulloon Creek’s pastured eggs are extremely labour intensive and expensive to produce (more land per bird with tactics to grow more grasses, weeds, seeds, grubs, bugs and worms and even the organic grain is over 4 times the cost of standard grains). Whilst this means they are not cheap to produce, they believe that if something is worth doing, then it is worth doing properly. They believe birds should not be confined to the point of fighting and needing to be beak trimmed, that they should be free to roam and have a natural healthy diet as omnivores, that they should not live on concrete and metal, that they should be able to behave naturally like perching, moulting and scratching in social groups.
